Tom Brady just gave Steelers' Aaron Rodgers the ultimate compliment

This endorsement can only go so far.

Aaron Rodgers isn't an elite quarterback at this stage of his NFL career, and fans would argue he hasn't been since 2021. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback had a respectable season on paper and in the win column, but fell short of expectations in a year that resulted in an early playoff exit.

But when it comes to all-time quarterback talent, Rodgers' name is near the top of the list... and even the great Tom Brady knows it.

On Monday, Brady joined The Overlap's Stick To Football podcast. Brady got on the subject of Aaron Rodgers, and he showered the Steelers quarterback with compliments.

"I love Aaron. I think there's no greater passer of the football than Aaron Rodgers ... You see everyone do it, and then you see one person throw the ball that much better. Aaron Rodgers was incredible. It's hard to put into words how incredible he passes the ball.

The ball, the way it comes out of his hand, the way that it spins and delivers with the pace and with the accuracy, it's like a bullet. There's only probably three people in the history of the NFL that could do it like him."

Pittsburgh Steelers fans hope Aaron Rodgers can show traces of his younger self in 2026

It's interesting that Brady said Rodgers was incredible. That's a detail you might have missed. And he's not wrong.

In terms of arm talent, Rodgers was one of the best to ever play the game. His play-extension ability was top-notch, as was his accuracy and ability to put the ball in the endzone. Sadly, we're only seeing a shadow of that quarterback remaining.

When the Steelers brought back Rodgers for the 2026 season, it was with the intention of avoiding a ten-year drought without a playoff win. Now that he's here, fans can only hope that he shows more traces of the quarterback he was five years ago.

We all know what Rodgers was capable of; the question is: what is he capable of now?

While Brady's endorsement of Rodgers is noteworthy, he didn't come right out and say that he's still a top-tier quarterback or even that he's the right man for the job in Pittsburgh for the 2026 season. Still, Brady, of all quarterbacks, knows a thing or two about being a successful QB in your 40s.

Perhaps it was Brady's success with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his age-43 season that gave Steelers general manager Omar Khan reason to sign a quarterback who will turn 43 during the 2026 season.

If the Pittsburgh Steelers' young, talented core can take the next step forward, they don't need Aaron Rodgers to be the four-time NFL MVP we watched shred defenses countless times in Green Bay. They just need him to show traces of his younger self in 2026.
