The Steelers have been at the receiving end of some egregious calls this year. Early in the season, Pittsburgh had a big play wiped off the board due to a phantom George Pickens offensive pass interference call. Last week against the Jets, Minkah Fitzpatrick was called for a bogus leveraging penalty that otherwise would have resulted in a blocked extra point.

Fortunately, the Steelers have been able to find a way to overcome suspect officiating and emerge to 5-2 on the season. Mike Tomlin is in search of his third straight win as his team hosts the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

This will be the last primetime game of the season for the Giants and the only Monday Night Football game of the year for the Steelers. Here are the announcers and referees for tonight's game.

Announcers for Steelers vs. Giants

  • Network: ESPN
  • Play-by-play: Joe Buck
  • Color commentary: Troy Aikman
  • Sideline reporter: Lisa Salters

The Pittsburgh Steelers are no strangers to primetime football. This team played two Sunday Night Football games in October and now gets a talented crew calling the game on Monday Night Football. This MNF contest, aired on ESPN, will feature the nostalgic voices of Joe Buck as the play-by-play announcer and Troy Aikman as the color commentator. The talented Lisa Salters will be the sideline reporter at Acrisure Stadium this week.

Lisa Salters has been absent from the MNF broadcast for the past two weeks attending to a personal matter. If Salters is unable to attend the game tonight, Laura Rutledge is expected to fill in.

Referees for Steelers vs. Giants

Head Referee (Crew Chief)

Scott Novak started his NFL officiating journey as a side judge in 2014. Since 2019, Novak has been a lead official in the National Football League.

Through the first seven weeks of the season, Novak's crew has called a disproportionate number of penalties on the home team -- outpacing the away team with 45 to 30 in total penalties called this year. This is 9.33 percent higher than the league average.

Fortunately, the home team has found a way to win 83.33 percent of contests Novak has officiated this season. The NFL home win rate this season is just 49.17 percent. Novak's 12.5 penalties per game is just under the league average entering Week 8 (13.05 per game).
