The NFL free agency period is in full swing and you can bet that we won’t miss a beat of Steelers coverage. While the Steelers are releasing players, signing free agents, restructure and extending contracts and re-signing their own free agents we’ll be busy looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Wednesday, March 11th.

All quiet on the South Side
The NFL new league year began at 4:00 pm ET on Monday afternoon and there was a flurry of activity just before then and immediately after the deadline but not so much in Pittsburgh. The Steelers did not sign any of their free agents before the deadline so they are now all free to sign elsewhere, according to ESPN’s Scott Brown.
Jason Worilds has clear idea what he wants. Both Steelers, Giants think that price too high. Told: "We're not paying $1 million per sack."

Linebacker Jason Worilds was set to test the free agent market and could have been expecting a big payday but instead he announced late Monday night that he was retiring from the game of football at the age of 27. Quite shocking.
I appreciate all of the interest from the organizations that have reached out to us the past few days.
— Jason Worilds (@WorildsGreatest) March 11, 2015
With that being said, after much thought & consideration I have chosen to step away from football as I have opted to pursue other interests.
— Jason Worilds (@WorildsGreatest) March 11, 2015
I am especially grateful of the opportunity to play before some of the greatest fans in football today.
— Jason Worilds (@WorildsGreatest) March 11, 2015
Despite any concern and speculation that may ensue, I appreciate those that are respectful of my decision.

Can we help you pack?
The frenzy before the official start of the NFL free agency saw some blockbuster trades typically uncharacteristic for the NFL. One trade in particular actually benefitted the Steelers without them having to even be a part of it.
Didn't take long for Lions to find their Ndamukong Suh replacement. The Ravens have traded Haloti Ngata to Detroit. pic.twitter.com/8iB25pLmQy
— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) March 10, 2015
The defensive tackle has long since been a pain for the Steelers to have to deal with twice a year. Ngata has 8.5 career sacks against the Steelers in his career, including one punch in the nose to Ben Roethlisberger. The Ravens couldn’t afford his $8.5 million cap hit and are gambling that they can replace his presence in their front seven.
Revis wants how much?
So the Steelers weren’t completely quiet on Monday for the start of free agency. The New England Patriots declined the $20 million option for CB Darrelle Revis, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent at the deadline. Early reports indicated a bidding war between New England and the New York Jets but later on in the day reports circulated that the Steelers reached out to the Aliquippa native.
Here's another team that made a try at Darrelle Revis: his hometown #Steelers. No surprise, team source says too much money.
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) March 10, 2015
For Darrelle Revis and the #Jets, it’s 5 years, $70M, source says. He gets $48M in the first three years.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 11, 2015
Naturally, his asking price was a bit too high for the Steelers liking and Revis ended up signing with the Jets for a crap-ton of money. No one knows how to work the free agency system quiet like Revis. This will be his second stint with the Jets but first time without Rex Ryan. Hard to say whether or not a cornerback who will be 30 in July still has something to prove on his third big NFL contract and after winning a Super Bowl last month.
