Steelers Free Agency Grade

Not that the free agency period is over by any means but now that the frenzy of the first full week has come and gone it’s already time to start evaluating how teams have done so far. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco graded the Steelers free agency so far with a C- citing that “as usual, the Steelers have done little in free agency.”

If the Steelers are able to grab one of the remaining available corners in the free agency market without overpaying them as has been the trend so far and then extend Cameron Heyward to a long-term deal I’d consider the free agency period a success. They can always pick up James Harrison just before the season starts to save him from going through OTA’s and training camp.

You were drunk when you got here and you’re still drunk

Steelers cornerback Antwon Blake recently signed his $1.5 million tender offered by the Steelers as a restricted free agent. Seems as though he went and did some celebrating as he was arrested and charged with public drunkenness in California early Sunday morning, according to TMZ Sports.

Ed Bouchette of the PPG explains that the report states that Blake was arrested outside downtown bars in Oceanside and was released from custody upon sobering up. Commonly referred to as being thrown in the drunk tank for the night. The Steelers released a statement via Communications Coordinator, Burt Lauten.

The Pouncey brothers sat down with an interview for CBS Sports in Miami and talked candidly about their shared former teammate, Mike Wallace. Wallace was recently traded by the Dolphins to Minnesota after not living up to the giant-ass contract he signed when he left the Steelers in free agency. Wallace benched himself in the Dolphins’ season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Naturally, Maurkice Pouncey and Mike Pouncey train together in the offseason because, twins. For those who can’t tell them apart, Maurkice is the one calling Wallace a “coward.”

For what it’s worth, this was Maurkice Pouncey’s respons on his own Instagram account to the reports that he called Wallace a “coward.”
