According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Steelers’ star running back, Le’Veon Bell, will be suspended for three games and docked an additional game check for last summer’s arrest for driving while under the influence of marijuana.
Schefter reported via Twitter:
Pitt RB LeVeon Bell suspended 3 games, fined additional game check for violating substance abuse policy, per league sources. He is appealing

Bell is arguably the most valuable player on the Steelers offense. His absence in the wildcard game against the Baltimore Ravens made the Steelers’ offensive unit one dimensional. The Ravens’ defensive line was able to all but disregard the run game and get after quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
The Steelers’ match ups in the first three weeks of the 2015 season just became that much more important. An improved defense and some quality involvement from the newly signed DeAngelo Williams will be key during the suspension.
Schefter also notes that should the NFL decide to pit the Steelers against the defending champion Patriots for the Thursday night opener, the Steelers will be without Bell while the Pats will be without Bell’s partner in crime (meant quite literally here) LeGarrette Blount.
If NFL does match Steelers vs. Patriots in Thursday opener, PITT would be without Le'Veon Bell and NE would be without LeGarrette Blount.

Blount was suspended one game for his involvement in the same incident.
Both running backs are appealing the decision. Considering the new rules in place for substance abuse, they might not have much luck. Hopefully, this is a lesson learned for Bell.
At least he should be able to come into the season with some very fresh legs. Here’s hoping.
