Steelers News: Bettis, red-zone, pictures
By Kim Myers
The Steelers will look to shake off the funk from the opening loss to New England and make sure their headsets are working correctly in Heinz Field for their home opener against the San Francisco 49ers. While they’re preparing for their home debut we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Sunday, Sept. 20th.

Bettis and Ben, together again
In his induction speech for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Jerome Bettis thanked Ben Roethlisberger for a touchdown saving tackle Ben made after Bettis fumbled against the Indianapolis Colts during the Super Bowl XL run.
"“Brother, without you saving that tackle, I still might be on the doorsteps, brother. I owe you for life.” – Jerome Bettis"
As the Steelers’ Teresa Varley highlights, Bettis honored Roethlisberger again on Friday night in Pittsburgh for his charity work. Bettis presented Roethlisberger with the 2015 Humanitarian of the Year Award at the Caring for Kids Dinner benefitting Bettis’ “Bus Stops Here” Foundation.
"“It’s great to honor a person I have seen grow up. I have seen the guy go from rookie to seasoned veteran, but I have also seen him go from a young, young man, to a husband and father. This is really special to get a chance to honor Ben. Not to mention that he did help me on a play or two so to be able to honor Ben is a huge honor for me as well.” – Jerome Bettis"
Could use some more points
If there’s one thing the Steelers will be looking to correct this afternoon against the 49ers from their loss to the Patriots is to try to stop leaving points on the field. Since they won’t have to worry about remembering whether or not to cover Rob Gronkowski, this should be fairly simple. Score more touchdowns.
Ed Bouchette of the PPG reminds us that in the Steelers’ opening night loss to New England the offense produced a 300-yard passer, a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver but still lost the game. The Steelers are going to need to duplicate the production today but this time have it generate in scores. Also, not missing two field goals will help as well. We’re looking at you, Josh Scobee.
Picture Day
It was picture day for the Steelers on the South Side on Saturday. Looking sharp, guys.
