The Steelers remain undefeated after their Week 12 contest against the Ravens concluded. Here is Pittsburgh’s player of the game.
The Steelers got the job done as they won 19-14 over their rival, the Baltimore Ravens. At first, many didn’t know if this game would ever be played. After initially being scheduled for Thanksgiving night, the game was moved back three separate times and landed on a Wednesday matinee matchup. This lack of preparation and unknowing of when the game will occur resulted in some of the sloppiest football fans have seen all season. The only bright spot was the defense that only gave up one touchdown other than the freebie set up by the Ray-Ray McCloud fumble.
Unfortunately, the offense was completely abysmal all game long. They showed drops, poor passes, and an allergy to the end zone. They were one for five in the money area and could not do anything to fool the Ravens battered defense. Thankfully the defense did show up and made it relatively difficult for the Ravens offense all night.
The botched clock management at the end of the first half was also a welcomed cure to the Steelers woes. Another tough pill to swallow from this game is that Bud Dupree seems to be lost for the season as reports are coming out that he has a torn ACL. That will be a big issue going forward unless Alex Highsmith can fine-tune his game fast.
T.J. Watt was the Steelers player of the game against the Ravens
Though the team victory was not pretty, T.J. Watt was dominant all game. He created havoc over the lesser competition in front of him. He was one of the few bright spots out of this game as he continues to take a shot at the Defensive Player of the Year award when the season concludes. Watt created uncomfortable situations for the Ravens offense that caused struggles. John Harbaugh’s team couldn’t move the ball down the field for the majority of the game. They were one dimensional by only being successful on the run option play.
Watt finished the game with two sacks, seven total tackles, three tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits. He has been a wrecking ball all season and hopefully, that continues even with the possible loss of Dupree. They were a dynamic duo but Highsmith seems promising so it’s possible Watt and Highsmith could build a nice resume together as well. Watt has been consistently amazing all season and today he showed why he is one of the best in the business.
The Steelers held on to win and become 11-0. It was in no way shape or form a pretty win, but hey, a win is a win no matter what. And we will take it, especially since it didn’t come without a cost.
