Even AI thinks Steelers' new jerseys are an eyesore

It's one thing for Pittsburgh Steelers fans to call their favorite team's new alternate jerseys ugly, but it's something else entirely when artificial intelligence can't even get behind the decision the franchise just made. On Monday, the Steelers unveiled their 'Steel City Legacy' uniforms, and fans weren't impressed.

But it wasn't just fans who tore Pittsburgh's new jerseys to shreds. AI was getting in on the action. NFL on CBS posted a side-by-side photo of the Steelers' new 'Legacy' jerseys and the loathed 'Bumble Bee' jerseys. In response to the post, one X user asked Grok, the AI bot for X's social media platform, "Which jersey do you like?"

The AI response was priceless.

"I prefer the Bumblebee jerseys," Grok responded on X. "Their bold black-and-yellow stripes evoke a unique, gritty historical vibe that's more visually striking than the simpler 1933 design."

And there you have it. Even thinks the Steelers' new jerseys are uglier than the bumble bee throwbacks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers managed to mess up what should have been an easy alternate uniform win

This wasn't that hard. If the Pittsburgh Steelers had polled fans to get a sense of what they were looking for, there's no chance they would have gone with the hideous uniforms they just unveiled. While we all want to respect the classics and the history behind these 'Steel City Legacy' throwback alternates, we can also admit they are not aesthetically pleasing.

Instead of trying to replicate the original Steelers jerseys, the team would have been much better off giving fans the yellow helmet look to go with all-white uniforms or even a yellow color rush. Heck, simply changing the tan pants to black would have made it easier for fans to get behind the look.

If the Pittsburgh Steelers are trying to sell these to the fan base, they did a poor job. The overwhelming feeling early on is that these alternate jerseys missed the mark. And why would fans want to drop big money on a jersey purchase if they don't even like how it looks? Those looking to buy a new jersey are likely apt to stick with the ordinal home or away jersey, or perhaps go with the block number jersey (which most agree should be their default look).

Steelers fans were excited for the new jersey unveiling, but that excitement quickly turned to frustration after getting our first look at the Steel City Legacy uniforms. The fact that AI thinks even the bumble bee jerseys are better is really saying something.
