Losers (and only losers) from the Steelers' despicable loss to the Bills

Things only got uglier as the game went on.

In a similar fashion to what we saw against the Bears a week ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers were alive in this game until the wheels came off. After halftime, this team actually led 7-3.

And then the third quarter started, and everything flipped on it head.

From constant offensive mistakes to a worn-down defense not being able to hold up, the Bills quickly racked up multiple scores and took a secure lead. They never lost it and routed this team for yet another tough loss.

No matter if you are a part of the “Fire Tomlin” crowd or against it, this team is in a tough spot right now. Considering how embarrassing this game was, for the second time this year, we don’t have a single winner on this list.

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves with only losers after pitiful loss to Bills

Steelers Losers: The Coaches

Let's start with the most notable and important list of losers: the coaches. From Mike Tomlin down to each of the coordinators, this entire staff was an embarrassment this week.

The offense failed to move the ball at all and couldn’t keep the pace with a flag football team, let alone the Bills. No matter if it was on the ground or through the air, this offense was pathetic.

The defense did ok at times, but wore down in the second half and fell apart. The run defense was horrible all day, and they allowed Buffalo’s strength to shine this week.

Meanwhile, Tomlin just allows all of these issues to persist with no real changes year in and year out. From top to bottom, the coaches are failing this fanbase.

Steelers Loser: The Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph both had chances to show that they can lead this offense. Both failed miserably.

Roders was once again inaccurate for most of the game, missing receivers and relying on his checkdowns constantly. He seems scared in the pocket now. His confidence and composure from the first half of the season are long gone.

Rudolph had fewer opportunities, but he made the least of them. His wild overthrow interception allowed the Bills to take control of this game. If neither option improves, you have to consider looking at Will Howard since the season is circling the drain.

Steelers Loser: Cam Heyward

Cam Heyward didn’t play a downright horrible game, but his jawing with Josh Allen was annoying. Save the trash talk for when you are winning. At the very least, make more of an impact if you are going to be spouting off against the opposition.

Steelers Loser: T.J. Watt

The headlines wrote themselves this week. The Bills were down their top two tackles, which made it seem like a feast for the former All-Pro. Instead, he struggled to generate pressure and failed to record a big play.

Watt also struggled as a run defender, which helped the Bills dominate on the ground. He has disappeared far too often this season, and one has to be concerned that his production is down following his massive new deal.

Steelers Losers: The Fans

I really don’t see a solution here. Both sides of the ball are in shambles year in and year out. Tomlin says changes are coming, and then one year later, we are talking about the same problems.

Is 9-8 still on the table? Absolutely. That said, this team is a far cry from their success that we used to demand from this franchise.
