Free agency died down weeks ago, but there are still plenty of talented players on the market waiting to sign contracts with NFL teams. With the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to wait until after the draft to see which roster gaps remain, but adding a few more veterans could be likely when the dust settles on the biggest offseason event of the year.

On April 14, Pro Football & Sports Network released an article detailing one remaining free agent each NFL team could still sign. PFSN's answer for the Steelers couldn't have been more obvious.

With a massive hole remaining at the quarterback position and Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson as the only QB options for the 2025 season, PFSN pegged Aaron Rodgers as the perfect suitor for the Steelers. It's not hard to see why.

Though fans are sick of the drama surrounding the 41-year-old quarterback, Rodgers is easily the best quarterback option on the market and comes at the game's most important position. Even in his old age, the difference between Rodgers and Rudolph could mean making the playoffs and finally snapping an eight-year winless postseason drought or having a losing record for the first time in over 20 years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still holding out hope for Aaron Rodgers, but the NFL Draft could alter plans

Things have been stagnant on the Aaron Rodgers front for some time now. Late in March, there were whispers that Rodgers was still contemplating retirement, and the veteran quarterback has yet to make a decision about his future in the NFL.

The Steelers, meanwhile, have been exercising an unusual amount of patience, knowing Rodgers' decision could potentially make or break their 2025 season. But Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan won't wait forever.

With the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, the Steelers could look for a long-term solution at the quarterback position if Rodgers doesn't sign by then. The Steelers have been gaining steam in connection with Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, while taking a stab on a player like Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart or Alabama's Jalen Milroe isn't out of the question.

If the Steelers select a quarterback early in the NFL Draft, Rodgers will have almost no incentive to sign with Pittsburgh. The veteran could fear that, if things don't go well, Tomlin could make the switch to the rookie.

Linking Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers is an obvious connection to make, but if Rodgers doesn't get on board soon, it might not happen.
