After the Pittsburgh Steelers rushed to turn in their card for Derrick Harmon in Round 1, the team has plenty of business to attend to. The front office may have addressed their massive defensive line hole on the depth chart, but other spots could use some aid. After they traded their second-round pick for DK Metcalf, many knew this long wait between rounds one and three would be tedious.
Steelers general manager Omar Khan could attempt to make some trades on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. Pittsburgh had several dialogues regarding potential trades with different teams leading up to their top selection. Harmon was a highly regarded prospect, and the club couldn't pass him up. It is possible that Khan could trade up or down depending on how the draft board shakes out.
The Steelers would love to add a running back or quarterback in the third round. Interesting names are still available heading into Day 2 of the draft, who could be perfect options for Pittsburgh. No matter how things evolve throughout the night, Khan will remain vigilant.
They are flexible but want to fill another hole on their roster with this pick.
The Pittsburgh Steelers must hope DJ Giddens falls on Day 2 of NFL Draft
The hype around Shedeur Sanders landing with the Steelers was legit. Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin decided to steer clear of the quarterback and stick to their plan. It appears they want to try and land a top quarterback next year and ride things out this upcoming season. If that is the plan, expect the top brass to attempt to keep their draft procedure in full bloom.

Many wanted Sanders, but the safe pick was taking Harmon. They addressed a massive need without any starting options for the position. Pittsburgh has Kenneth Gainwell and Jaylen Warren on the roster, but they could use a boost. Besides Warren, Gainwell and Cordarrelle Patterson appear to be special team options.
They Steelers need to locate a running back who can become the bell cow.
DJ Giddens is an interesting runner coming out of Kansas State. He was one of the Steelers' 30 pre-draft visitors, which exposes their interest. Tomlin has mentioned they want game-breaking speed at the position. Giddens might not be as fast as others in this draft class, but he is a perfect all-around option that could give them the best of both worlds.
If a running back is fast in this class, they will struggle with their size at the next level. Giddens fits the mold of big backs the Steelers love, but he ran a blazing 4.43 40-yard dash. That is a fantastic time for him, and it should translate to the NFL.
Pittsburgh should hope for a running back to help increase its talent. Giddens would be the perfect balance of size and speed, who could vault the rushing attack in 2025 and beyond.
