Steelers’ quirky schedule release video set the tone for 2025 mission

It was unconventional (and a bit odd) but efficient.

While the rest of the NFL leaned into flashy pop culture references—everything from Mario Kart tracks to Minecraft maps—for their 2025 scheduled release videos, the Pittsburgh Steelers took a different route.

In true Steel City fashion, they kept it gritty, fun, and grounded with their creatively titled five-minute hype video, Sacking Sasquatch.

Released Wednesday night alongside the league-wide unveiling of the regular season slate, the Steelers’ schedule release video followed rising defensive stars Nick Herbig and Keanu Benton on a quirky but meaningful journey to uncover each of Pittsburgh’s 2025 opponents.

No green shells, rap battles, or pixelated builds—just two hungry defenders on a mission.

The twist? Each opponent was represented by a Sasquatch's favorite item. From Pacific Northwest coffee to mangled Wisconsin cheese. It led a trail of clues to unlock the next name on the schedule.

It was fun, but it also carried weight.

The Pittsburgh Steelers 2025 hype video served it's purpose perfectly

In a dreary offseason clouded by roster questions, quarterback uncertainty, and a general sense of transition, the video reminded fans of one thing Pittsburgh can always rely on: defense. And the stars of the video weren’t just random selections.

Herbig and Benton are poised to play major roles in 2025 as they lead the charge against a gauntlet of dangerous quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson.

The concept of “Sacking Sasquatch” might seem silly on the surface, but it captured something deeper. In a season where the offense may struggle to find its footing, Pittsburgh’s best hope rests with the men who can bring the pressure, control the trenches, and turn games with a single hit.

The Steelers don’t need gimmicks—they need grit.

Watching this team ride the strength of its defense through championship runs and rebuilding years made this video hit the right chord. It leaned into identity, not trends. It celebrated the unsung heroes instead of headline names. It was Pittsburgh through and through.

So while other teams might have won internet points with memes and pop culture cameos, the Steelers gave us something better: a visual mission statement.

This season, the goal is simple—sack Sasquatch. And if Herbig, Benton, and the rest of the black and gold defense have their way, quarterbacks across the league might just feel the footsteps coming.
