2. Steelers can't be content with their shakey CB2 situation

Whether you want to admit it or not, losing Cameron Sutton to the Lions in free agency was a pretty significant blow to Pittsburgh's secondary. Though Sutton isn't considered an elite cornerback, he was certainly the best the Steelers had on the roster and his versatility was a major asset.

Adding Patrick Peterson is a nice addition, as the veteran is coming off a 5-interception season with the Vikings. However, is expected to be more limited in his role. He also turns 33 years old this summer, and we have to assume that his play will really drop off at some point in the near future.

Even if Peterson proves to be excellent for the Steelers in 2023, they still don't have a cornerback on the opposite side they can trust. Ahkello Witherspoon is coming off a severe hamstring injury and wasn't good when he played in 2022. Meanwhile, Levi Wallace has severe athletic limitations that show he should be no more than a team's CB3.

Because of this, I would almost expect the Steelers to add a young cornerback in the first two rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft. If they do, they would probably have a player who could compete for snaps right away and earn the CB2 role early in the season.
