If things go sideways in Pittsburgh during training camp, these Steelers could find a new home elsewhere.

Training camp is just starting up and players remain fresh heading into the summer practices. We tend to look at who might have a good chance at making the team this year, but the reality is hard for those who might not. We are still weeks away from the 53-man roster being set in stone for the Steelers. It will take players to situate themselves on the roster, let alone depth chart positioning before the regular season begins.

For those who might end up on the outside looking in, that doesn't mean their NFL career is over.

Anthony Averett

Talent hasn't been the factor going against Anthony Averett's professional struggles.

He can't stay healthy. For the most part, he is good enough to be an NFL contributor as long as he can stay on the field. The Steelers signed him to add some experienced depth both in the slot and outside cornerback. There are a ton of options in the defensive backfield for Pittsburgh. If Averett shows respectable play, then expect him to get a roster spot elsewhere.

Dylan Cook

One would have to imagine Dylan Cook has a good shot at making the roster going into training camp, but he needs to earn it.

He made the roster last year after many didn't know much about the tackle. He could be a nice depth piece to keep around, especially if Dan Moore Jr. struggles to transition to the right side. If Cook does fail to make the Steelers, there are plenty of tackle-hungry teams out there looking for a young player like him. They could always try to keep him on the practice squad, but it might be hard to hide him.

Grayland Arnold

Much like Averett earlier, it will be tough for someone like Grayland Arnold to make the roster.

Pittsburgh has a lot of chefs in the kitchen when it comes to their group of defensive backs. Arnold has some NFL experience and can play in the slot. Special teams will be the name of the game for this former undrafted player. If he can show enough as a slot corner and excel on special teams, then he could stick. In reality, this might be a platform for him to jump somewhere else after training camp.

Quez Watkins

From one crowded room on the Steelers to another with their wide receiver core.

They have a ton of potential options, but none that have excited many fans. That has led to plenty of trade speculation surrounding the Steelers coming into training camp. Pittsburgh might not be the home Quez Watkins is hoping for. He is an unproven guy who is a depth option. If he fails with the black and gold, there will likely be another team needing receiver depth.

DeMarvin Leal

Out of everyone listed here, DeMarvin Leal might have the best shot at making the roster going into training camp.

If he does fail, there will be plenty of teams interested in the Steeler's former third-round pick. He hasn't been able to stay consistent on the field. This is a huge training camp for him, not only to win a spot in Pittsburgh but to prove he can be something more than a depth piece. Make no mistake, Leal is still young, and another team would presume he has remaining potential. He will find a job elsewhere quickly if Pittsburgh moves on.
