A frustrating day in Indianapolis continues as yet another Steeler leaves the game due to injury, this time Cordarrelle Patterson.
On a drive where Patterson had nearly single-handedly gotten the Steelers' offense moving, Patterson picked up a first down run and was tackled before being sent to the sidelines for further evaluation. Patterson reportedly left the blue medical tent and was then carted to the locker room.
Patterson is listed as questionable to return with an ankle injury.
Cordarrelle Patterson was the the only thing going right with Steelers' offense
The Steelers have struggled to do much of anything against the Colts' defense, especially on the ground. On six carries, Patterson racked up 43 yards, most of which came on the drive that he was injured. Najee Harris and Justin Fields have combined for just eight yards on eight carries.
The Steelers are already without Jaylen Warren, who is still dealing with a hamstring injury that popped up in training camp. Aside from Harris, the Steelers only have Aaron Shampklin who was elevated from the Steelers' practice squad on Saturday. This is Shampklin's first NFL game.
It appears the Steelers have no choice but to ride with Harris at running back, though with the way the first half has gone, Pittsburgh will have to primarily move the ball through the air to get back into the game.
The Steelers have already lost James Daniels and Nick Herbig to ankle injuries in the first half. Herbig has since returned to the game.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network offered an update as the second half was about to begin and confirmed that Cordarrelle Patterson has been ruled out for the remainder of the game. James Daniels has also been ruled out.
