Steelers could target Titans WR duo if they can't trade for Davante Adams
Everyone in Pittsburgh is keeping a close eye on the Davante Adams trade reports coming out of Las Vegas. We know the Raiders are willing to move the star receiver before the trade deadline hits on November 5. It has been no secret that the Steelers are trying to acquire an upgrade for their receiving core, and Adams is the big fish freshly in the rumor mill for the black and gold.
Things are ongoing when it comes to the development of the Adams story. No one knows when this situation will be resolved, but it looks like a trade will happen at some point. There are plenty of teams showing interest in Adams like the Jets, Ravens, Saints, and Bills just to name a few. Rumor has it the Steelers are the team trying the hardest to get this trade across the finish line.
According to reports, Adams has a preferred destination, and that is the New York Jets. He wants to reunite with Aaron Rodgers. Adams will have to settle for where the Raiders trade him if a deal gets completed. If the Steelers fail to add Adams to their roster, they will likely try and focus on other options. They are desperate for help at the receiver position, so Adams isn't their only target.
Pittsburgh could always target Treylon Burks as a cheap receiver upgrade
Maybe adding Treylon Burks wouldn't be the ideal backup plan for missing out on a potential Adams trade, but he could develop into something. Things haven't been smooth for Burks ever since being a top pick by the Titans back in the 2022 NFL Draft. Tennessee isn't looking like a playoff contender through the first portion of the schedule, so they could be willing to trade some pieces.
Burks still has another year after this season on his rookie contract before a team has to decide on his fifth-year option. A change of scenery could work wonders on a career. With a new coaching staff with the Titans this season, they could be ready to move on from a bunch of players from the previous regime. Burks would cost little in terms of sending something back in a trade and could be a buy-low big payoff addition.
DeAndre Hopkins makes a lot of sense as a trade option for the Steelers
If Pittsburgh wants a pure rental option, they could add DeAndre Hopkins to their trade board. The former star receiver seems to be slowing down some due to age. He is scheduled to become a free agent after the season concludes. It would make a ton of sense for the Titans to move the "big name" receiver before the deadline to get something in return. He would be a cheap trade addition.
Hopkins might not be the top NFL receiver that he once was, but he has still produced some quality numbers. Add in the fact that he remains a top target for the Titan's offense, and he could benefit by playing with George Pickens. His veteran savvy is something Mike Tomlin would love to have on his team. If Adams fails to join the Steelers, then it would make a ton of sense to turn their attention to Hopkins.
