This was unexpected.

One of the biggest games fans have already circled on the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2025 schedule is their Week 8 Sunday Night Football showdown against the Green Bay Packers. The master and the apprentice meet as quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face his former understudy, Jordan Love.

However, there's a bigger story that could steal the spotlight.

Exactly one week before the kickoff of the 2025 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys shockingly traded Micah Parsons to the Packers. The deal included a pair of future first-round picks from Green Bay and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

While football fans are already buzzing about the Week 4 Cowboys-Packers matchup on Sunday Night Football after the Parsons trade (and rightfully so), this blockbuster move greatly impacts the Steelers on SNF in Week 8.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will get an unplanned matchup against Micah Parsons when they face the Packers

On October 26, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be under the lights at Acrisure Stadium when they host the Green Bay Packers for a highly anticipated contest. This was supposed to be the Aaron Rodgers revenge game, but now, head coach Mike Tomlin has a superstar to game plan against.

The Green Bay Packers were already expected to be one of the best teams in the NFC this season. Though they have the youngest roster in the league, Love looks like a franchise quarterback, and the Packers had almost no roster holes.

Now things just got a whole lot tougher in Week 8.

Instead of simply game planning against the Packers' well-balanced offense or figuring out how they're going to move the ball consistently against a quality defense, the Steelers now have game-wrecker Micah Parsons to worry about.

The Steelers were scheduled to play against Parsons when they faced the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5 of the 2024 season. However, Parsons suffered an ankle injury the previous week against the Giants and wasn't able to suit up. Now they will get their first showdown against the superstar pass rusher.

Pittsburgh has witnessed how star edge rushers can change the game. Dominant performances from Browns' Myles Garrett and Bengals' Trey Hendrickson last season made the difference in the game, and they're hoping the same won't be the case for Parsons when they play the Packers.

NFL analysts are already labeling the Green Bay Packers as Super Bowl contenders following the Micah Parsons trade, and the Pittsburgh Steelers' already daunting task in Week 8 just got trickier.
