There were numerous concerns on the Pittsburgh Steelers' roster heading into the season. Over the course of three weeks in the schedule, some concerns have only grown, while others have emerged. A bunch of hype and trust was shoved into the laps of certain players who have struggled to live up to those expectations. It's still early, but they need to turn things around.

On offense, many were concerned about how Aaron Rodgers would perform behind an unproven offensive line. While Rodgers hasn't been great, he is one of the main reasons why this offense has remained in winning positions during the first three contests. The offensive line has struggled, but there are concerns about veterans who should be consistent contributors.

Regarding the Steelers' defense, they have experienced numerous disappointments at the start of the season.

Many thought they would be a top defense in the NFL, but they have proven to be nothing short of soft thus far. Pittsburgh has invested a significant amount of money in its defense, and things could turn sour if they don’t change its approach. It's a shame how poorly the defense has looked.

Pittsburgh Steelers who have disappointed on offense and defense so far this season

Payton Wilson, LB

It seemed like a lock for Payton Wilson to emerge as the top linebacker for the Steelers this season, but the opposite has happened. His top skillset is his coverage ability, but he has failed in that department thus far. His issues defending the run due to his light frame have only been magnified. He has endured a rough start to the season, and there is growing concern.

Wilson is a young defender who is expected to become a star for the Steelers. Due to his weak play, he is on his way to the bench. Cole Holcomb has gained significant snaps because he can play the run better. Wilson must turn things around this season, or Pittsburgh might be in search of another linebacker to pair with Patrick Queen.

Isaac Seumalo, OG

You can blame almost every member of the offensive line for the Steelers' shortcomings. It was widely assumed that, being a young group, they would require a developmental period to come together as a unit. With that being said, many were hoping for better going into the campaign. They have failed to show increased improvement at a level you'd prefer.

Isaac Seumalo is the lone veteran in the trenches, and he has been a massive disappointment.

For the most part, he has been a steady force for the Steelers' offensive front, but the first three games haven't been great. No, he hasn't been the worst player up front for Pittsburgh, but he should be better than his current output. Seumalo needs to improve; he has too much experience to be playing this poorly.

Keeanu Benton, DT

There are numerous defensive players who should be worried about the Steelers' situation. Keeanu Benton had high expectations heading into the year, but those have quickly fallen back to earth. Mike Tomlin and their coaching staff only see the young defensive tackle at the nose position, where Benton has failed to contribute effectively this season. It is a troubling trend.

Benton might be better if the coaching staff realizes their mistake of deploying him at nose tackle and moves him to a different spot on the defensive line. Benton has struggled to develop a strong pass-rushing arsenal, which has worsened his play as his run defense has deteriorated. He is still a young player, so not all hope is lost, but he must turn things around this season.
